Lie Down When Flying

Southwest Airlines Other Idea

Submitted 6 years ago

Instead of sitting passengers, have them lie down. The amount of space remains the same in either position, you just have to redesign the cabin. You could imitate the design of some Japanese Capsule Hotels, and in fact you could theoretically fit more people inside the cabin when stacking horizontal capsules because traditional seats waste a lot of space. The capsule could have personal carry-on space (use it to prop your feet up), and a transparent slot above your head, where you can put your smartphone/tablet and watch a movie/listen to music. Most passengers would much rather choose a flight where they can truly rest and even sleep in comfort, specially if you have a long flight.
