Smartphones are just too big for easy handling with one hand.
Touchpad on the backside could help users to use smartphone with one hand. Mouse cursor would be displayed on the screen, and user will be able to move it via touchpad. When a user holds the phone in one hand, the index finger is usually in the middle of the backside, so the touchpad should be placed there.
