Iris View Scrolling

Samsung Marketing Idea Idea

Submitted 6 years ago

Hi, Daniel Dixon here,

This idea for a new feature on a Samsung phone came while I was thinking about a current feature; Smart Stay. Smart Stay is capable of keeping the screen on while your eyes are looking at it.

The idea I have? Samsung develop a new sensor on the front of the phone which allows you to scroll up or down by using your eyes only.

It works the opposite way to a standard finger scroll, as you move your eyes down your screen goes down, up, and your screen goes up.

The sensor detects the movements your eyeballs make, probably through some Iris tracking software.

The main benefits I can think of would be
- Ease of use
- No loss of moment, following the story with your eye movements as you continue reading
- It could benefit people with neurological problems who struggle to use mobile phones, I wouldn't stretch it as far as to say it would work well for people with loss of limbs, but who knows, the only downside is still touching the screen when you need to navigate elsewhere. However, voice commands make things much easier i.e (Next page, previous page, open app etc)

It will work in conjuction with touch commands however it will need activating in the settings.

Imagine a phone, where you can control it with your Iris, and through voice commands.

Thankyou for reading I hope you enjoyed it, is is probably impractical or downright impossible, but who knows, the future begins here.
