Instead of predicting future warfare, how about taking the franchise to the early years of American warfare? Like the American Revolution, the Civil War, French and Indian war, etc... these story modes could be absolutely amazing, as well as multiplayer, giving that rifles were single shot in that time, it would be more of a challenge for players as opposed to hip firing a 100 round machine gun
