Recycled Is Better

Dear Walmart,

I'm not sure if my idea is an original one since it seems to be common-sense based or if it's even a good one, but it makes sense to me. I have been thinking of ways to reduce the amount of plastics being dumped into landfills and inevitably into the ocean. My idea is quiet simple, and also practical, and the technology already exists to implement it. We only need you and other retailers and manufacturers on-board with the plan.

My idea is this...

Everyone buys products (bleach, detergents, bath and cleaning products, etc.), instead of stocking shelves with thousands of plastic bottles that need to be constantly replenished, why not have large tanks for each product that customers can come with either their own containers or re-use the same container/s previously bought and refill them at your store? For those that use their own containers, you can provide labels for scanning them when they get to the checkout. You can also provide your own Walmart brand reusable glass containers that can have pretty designs on them so that people will be more enticed to want to buy and use those instead. This plan can eliminate millions of bottles that are thrown out daily, it requires the use of less resources to produce and distribute, saves both the buyer and the distributors money in production costs, and more importantly reduces the amount of Carbon emissions and other pollutants into the atmosphere. This is nothing more than a glorified vending machine, which means that it is possible to implement, easy to maintain, and can be manned or automated. Your marketing team can sell this new way of life to the nation the same way they sold the Chia Pet.

I am nothing more than a concerned Earthling trying to help save home. 10% of our plastics end up in our oceans and rivers, which means that we all now have micro plastics in our systems from it being in our food supply. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch stretches hundreds of miles across the Pacific Ocean and is not going anywhere or getting any smaller, and our daily activities are only growing it. I am not a scientist, but the science is there. Please use your resources and better judgement to help reduce our impact.
