A Newer, Safer Grocery Basket
Walmart Service Improvement IdeaSubmitted 7 years ago
Hello, My name is Donovaghn Adam Calloway, I go by Adam though, nerve racking when literally everyone gets the rest of my name wrong LOL but anyways, I work at store 5435 San Jose Ca. I recently had an idea pop into my head about our grocery carts safety and not just here, but at many other stores of non walmart relation. I have noticed A lot of children and unfortunately grown adults, stand on the side on the lower metal braces and also crawling underneath in the undercarage area. I personally think that is a safety hazard and and have personally seen on several occasions where the parents literally disregarded the fact that theyre child is in an unsafe location. Alot of physical harm can occur. So basically my Idea is to design a full-sized basket that is more square at the bottom enabling a lot more storage space, compared with the almost coned "dipped" shape current design which doesnt hold as much. And in this new squared storage area at the bottom is a connected, screwed in storage cointainer that pulls out with a little pull up on a "click to close lever" similar to the door handles onthe back of most full sized suvs. In doing this, people playing underneath the basket and standing on the side metal bars at the bottom is now eliminated. Also, now that he basket has been square at the bottom, customers can now store more items such as (from my actual daily visual experiances) Bleach, washing powder, eggs, water bottles, as well as theyre purse's. Now because of the storage bin at the bottom, customers no longer have to worry if or when something is going to fall from underneath and on to the floor. So now the customer can shop free of mind knowing that theyre child/ren arent in/on a hazardous spot on the basket and also store more items with confidence that nothing will fall.
