During the summer months it gets incredibly hot in the car while you're grocery shopping. Even if you keep a cooler bag in the car, it gets hot inside. So you're putting your perishables in an oven of sorts. They have refrigerators for drinks and freezers for Ice Cream at the registers. It would be simple to stock some Ice Packs in the freezers for purchase to assist in keeping the perishables cool.
