Integrated Coefficient Enhancement (ICE)
Volvo New Product IdeaSubmitted 4 years ago
This is to introduce for your consideration the Integrated Coefficient Enhancement (ICE). It is a unique concept that addresses vehicle dynamics during panic events. State-of-the-art safety technologies in concert with an aerodynamic/mechanical delivery devise and a high tech ceramic tractive medium, come together in real time to greatly improve friction forces in a panic event. The result is greatly reduced stopping distance and turning radius at any speed on all road surfaces including ice, wet pavement and even dry pavement. This proven concept fills a hole in the autonomous driving effort as well as highway safety.
The ICE is a perfect marriage with ABS and ESC. It fills the gap that tires and brakes alone cannot while being lightweight, user friendly, inexpensive and dramatically effective in panic events.
The web site icyroads.net gives details and includes videos of testing, prototypes, and technical information and contact information.
Two US patents are granted; 6,371,532 and 10,239,350. A third patent is pending. The pending patent covers the redesigned ceramic tractive medium that affords the ability to improve friction forces on all road surfaces. It is described on the web page. This ceramic tractive medium will be manufactured in Germany by the US company CoorsTek.
Continental Auto in Germany is familiar with our work. You might talk with Christian Schumacher there.
