Provide A Toll Number For Your 1-800-United1 Reservation Line
United Airlines Customer Service Improvement IdeaSubmitted 9 years ago
I'm a business traveler who books from the US for international travel. I have need to make itinerary changes while out of the country. My local (Honduras, in this case) cell phone cannot call US 800 numbers, but cell charges to call the US are reasonable enough that calling direct is easily worth it. United does not post a non 800 number on your "Contact Us" page, so you don't make it easy to reach you when outside the US-Canada phone system. Providing in-country numbers is great when that's needed, but it's not in the case of a US customer needing to change a return flight home that was booked through your US-based reservation system. It's neither convenient nor appropriate to force your US-based customers to deal with a local United office in a foreign country simply to make a change to a US reservation. BTW, I tried to make the change on line, but the system refused to make changes to my international reservation and indicated that I would need to call. I went on line to figure out if a number exists, and fortunately I found a number that worked in a Web chat forum discussing this very issue. So here's the deal: United already has the capacity to address this legitimate need. No sweat off your brow. Why not just go the extra mile and put the number in a visible location on your reservations contact page?! That way, people like me can deal with US-based agents 24-7, as if we were on home ground, even if we're out of the country. Costs you nothing but earns you kudos from your customers -particularly high value international business travelers like myself, that I'm sure you want to keep. Get to it!
