Storm 2410 Perfect- Almost

Troy-Bilt Product Improvement Idea

Submitted 3 years ago

I read every review I could get my hands on before settling on the Storm 2410. "Best for the price" everyone said and I couldn't afford the bigger model for my 100+' driveway. And this would np be the first new snowblower I'd purchased in 33 years in Alaska. Each winter I would futz with whatever used model I was given or had bartered for.
And when I lit that sucker up for the first time I was ear-to-ear smiles and happily did my driveway and pathways and parking spaces. Take about 90 minutes. I was like a kid with his first car.
Now after 3-4 more snowfalls I'm still ecstatic to have the 2410. But with time comes more discernment and though happy with my purchase, there are a couple of things it shoulda had when I bought it. No, I don't need any hand-warmer handles. Good God, how soft are we getting ou there in the cold? And I don't miss joystick chute control or a cab (a snowblower cab? oh, criminey). But a couple of simple, inexpensive additions would mean the world to me over the long run.
Lock-down handles make the jo easier by a huge margin. The snow blow don't flow when you have to slow to adjust the chute. Surely that little mechanism can't be a big cost for you (or me, the buyer) for the increased efficiency and satisfaction for the user.
And I know this is "the best of the inexpensive" model, but couldn't you add a little connector and a couple feet of wire so your harness allows for an aftermarket (or add-on from Troybilt) light unit? You know, at least up here where it's now dark all but 4 hrs a day, light is very practical.
But I'll say it again: even with these blatant lapses in common sense, this is the finest machine I've had the pleasure to own. And believe me, I've owned and borrowed and operated plenty. And don't think I won't cobble something to address these oversights. I'll clamp something to the handle so I can aim the chute without stopping, and I'll clamp a light where one would go if it had the opportunity to be placed there with forethought.
But wouldn't it easier and wiser to add those small improvements and charge me another $20?
A tip of my hat for the fine machine and a shake of the head on the miss.
