Help Us All Make DIY Facemasks - Sell DIY Packs For Home Workers

Hello Tesco, we all want to contribute to the effort against the coronavirus. Many of us have hidden but unused talents. There is a terrible shortage of facemasks in care homes, home care, etc.

You could sell DIY packs for people to make their own. From some looking around on the web for ways to make them, it seems to me that the ones where you can insert a sheet of kitchen roll would be the most useful. I'll have a look if there is any evidence of what works best. A pack should contain: densely-woven material, elastic for loops around the ears [much easier than having to tie the thing behind the head each time], and a pattern. Separately, sell extra kitchen roll and sewing thread.

If you could get material with Batman/ Superman pictures, this would help the kids to wear them. Something cool for teenagers & other young-at-hearts too.

You could start an action: anyone who hands 5 back for care homes, gets their next pack free or half price. That makes your stores into a hand-in point for home DIY-ers, and pick-up point for care homes too. All shop assistants could wear some cool ones too to give a good example. E.g. with a smile for customer-friendly, or a slogan 'Sew for Victory!' or the old war slogan 'Dig for Victory!'. It will help protect your employees at the same time.

This is win-win-win. Everyone with a needle or a sewing machine can help. It helps profile Tesco as a company that stands with all of us in the fight against corona. It helps us get face masks. It helps care homes to get masks for their staff. Every little helps - in the fight against corona too.

Please consider this idea.
