Dear New Products Division,

Have you ever seen a thickened toe or finger nail that grows straight up in the air instead of outward? Have you also ever wondered what causes this and what to do about it for treatment? This is a very common painful condition that afflicts more than 15% of the entire world population and is mainly caused by infections of common fungi, yeasts, and molds.

Hi, I'm Dr. John Lazar, a Podiatrist, Attorney and Pharmacist and I have developed a single instrument that incorporates the United States patent above creating a simple nail scraper that will revolutionize the industry for all persons with deformed nail infections. I have solved the perfect way to mechanically and safely thin out vertically challenged finger and toe nails incorporating my new US Patent #11,617,429.

I carefully designed this unique instrument scraper for such critical situations out of necessity in my own practice where I found none of the conventional methods to be effective and were actually dangerous. This new innovative method provides a quality and safe way to accurately and easily thin the nails from the top without dangerously cutting the skin or cuticle below.

This is due to the unique leverage gained by the pivot over the distal end of the finger or toe providing control over the trimming of the nail using only a simple conventional blade on the other side. This is especially important for diabetics, people of advanced age, and immunocompromised persons who are often afflicted with such thickened nails. Diabetics alone make up 12% of the population. That's a lot of thickened toenails!!!

The current methods of trimming vertical growing nails are poor at best to try to reduce the vertical thickness of nails. They are limited to only a 1) dangerous grinding wheel tool that can cause dangerous heat and harmful airborne infectious dust or a 2) second method using straight scalpels not designed for such a task which could slip and cause uneven cutting and actually cut the toe or finger, or a 3) third method that is awkwardly using a conventional nail clipper not designed at the correct angle to try to thin out the top of the nail. None of these conventional 3 methods work for vertical nail deformities, nor accomplish a quality cutting. They actually are dangerous to use to perform such tasks because the operator can lose control, slip, and pierce the patient's skin creating more problems.

Unlike conventional methods above, comes this single device which has only 1 normal angled cutting edge and the other soft edge. The soft edge gently pivots and cradles over the tip of the finger or toe providing leverage and control. This way there is a fine controlled method where the soft edge can pivot on the tip of the finger or toe on one end and allow for a very accurate precision control trimming of the top of the nail on the other end. [For best visualization, please see accompanying drawings in the patent for the Nail Scraper.]

The production costs are minimal. This is because the tooling required to manufacture the nail scraper is the same as the conventional clipper. It is similar in design to conventional nail clippers only with 1 cutting side and 1 soft side!!!

Sales potential can be voluminous where the nail scraper patent is a single instrument and may be sold in the retail venue in blister packs in Pharmacies and on Amazon and other venues due to its simplicity, safe, and ease of use without a doctor's supervision. In addition, it can be stocked professionally by surgical instrument supply companies since Podiatrists themselves will also find the need for this instrument in their offices and in surgical arenas. The market is unlimited. It may also be used for pets.

As the inventor and sole proprietor of this intuitive and unique patent and invention, I am confident that once thoroughly considered, you will also see such vision and the potential market. I am willing to reasonably either sell the patent outright or allow a percentage in the further development of this product to production around the world.

Please contact the undersigned for further information in discussing the Nail Scrapper Instrument. Copies of the patent with clear visionary drawings are enclosed. All reasonable offers and arrangements will be considered.

Very truly yours,

Dr. John Lazar
