Offer Dual Camera Dash Cam As A Factory Option

Subaru New Product Idea

Submitted 5 years ago

It seems to me that with all of the other driver aids that are now offered as factory options, that automakers should offer a dual camera dashcam option as part of these driver aids. I completely understand that most of the driver aids that are currently offered are centered around the idea of making the car and the driver as safe as possible. However, most of these options do not account for drivers in other cars. This is where the dashcam comes into play. A dashcam offers added visibility capability not available with standard mirrors. In addition dashcams offer a "built-in witness" in the event of an accident. This "built-in witness" is especially important in hit and run, and unattended vehicle parking lot accidents. Most companies now offer some sort of online service such as OnStar, and Subaru Link. Data feeds from a dashcam system could be relayed to these types of services should the vehicle be completely destroyed, such as a water, or fire event, where dashcam data would normally be irretrievable.
