Use Of Super Capacitors With Battery Backup As Range Extender

As an owner of an ageing EV, (2012 leaf). I see the problems of range and charge time as barriers to EV ownership. Having done some research, there seem to be 2 ways of improving things being looked at separately. Some companies are developing large capacitors that will charge in seconds but do not have the range. Others are looking at larger battery packs to extend range. I think there could be some merit to marrying the 2 systems together to give a fast charging short range capacitor backed up by a large battery restricted to 80% charge to make it last many years and give peace of mind that power will not run out. Apologies if this has already been looked at by Nissan.
