Motorola Halo+ For Disabled Children
Motorola Product Improvement IdeaSubmitted 4 years ago
I have been looking everywhere for a replacement baby monitor or camera system to enable me to watch my son while he sleeps. He is six years old, wheelchair bound and has drug resistant epilepsy. Because of this I need to watch him while he sleeps to look out for seizures and ensure he is breathing properly. I searched everywhere for an over the bed camera that didnt sit on the ceiling an was thrilled to find the motorola halo. Although designed for a baby cot I hoped it would be the solution to the poor picture and fuzziness of previous baby monitors.
Today I received my Motorola Halo+ Over the Crib Video Baby Monitor,I opened it eagerly and within 10 minutes I had it set up.
Sadly whilst it could immediately fullfill my needs with amazing picture clarity and allowing a full overhead view of my son, it doesnt quite adjust to fit his bed. The clamp design for cots doesnt work with horizontal side slats, and althought the stand has adjustable length its not quiet enough for the height of a hospital style bed. Also i cant justify spending £250-300 on a camera setup that will most probably only last a year or so before i cant get a full veiw of my son. To do this i need the pole to be taller and the arm to stretch over the bed more, an extra 5 inches or so would be all it would take to enable the system to grow as my son does.
I'm sure there are many parent's with disabled children that would find this type of larger scale extended halo system to be a god send. For years i'v had basic Motorola cameras propped on shelves mounted on curtains rails and hooked to ceilings with varying success. But even when zoomed in no matter the placement, never being able to get a good quialty picture so as to clearly see distinctive moments rather than an blurry arms an legs.
I'm hopeful as a company you could implement some changes to make tje halo system more inclusive for various ages and abilities or alternatively a separate system very much along the same lines.
