I've worked at a Michaels location in NC for almost a year and I've noticed a lot of customers are 18yrs+ and no children are present with them. Why are michaels selling so many kids toys, books, "impulse" etc? Lots of people would like to to see more "hanging devices" for frames/projects, home decor, functal art/household items, etc. Some people like to keep their homes simple but 9/10 people are very interested in spending money on making their home a more "personal/safe" space, by spending money on items that catch their eye. Yes lots of people come through with children, or buying children items, but Crayola is dying, Rainbow Loom has been 'dead' for some time now, and all those 'impulse' items are random and parents often steer their kids very far away from it all, I see this on a regular basis.
Also: people come in asking about your so-called "Essential Oils" and "beeswax" in our soap and candle making section.... people are bathing in, and breathing in the chemicals that are used for those items. PLEASE consider investing some time and money in REAL essential oils (with ingredient lists) and PLEASE consider helping save the bees, by harvesting some real wax, from a real farm with....real bees. You can't slap "BEESWAX" on the front of a yellow-ish block without some form of origin or ingredient list...it's awful. I help customers find anything they need in our huge store, but as soon as someone asks about your wax and oils, I very quietly and very humbly steer them to the nearest organic grocery store. Even one of my managers, who has serious allergies, has high fived me for being so honest with our customers. Michaels products are coming from overseas, usually manufactured for less than $5 being sold for twice, up to five times more...I think you guys are doing great in the area of $$$$$ but please know you will make more $$$ by being a little more transparent about where your products are coming from/what is in them.
