Seat Belt
Mazda New Product IdeaSubmitted 9 years ago
Install an additional seat belt strap that comes out of the back of the top part of the seat on the "opposite" side of the regular installed belt, that will cross the body and snap into a lock device at hip level (like the other) thus forming a cris-cross seat belt.
I was in an accident a few weeks ago, where a car crossed the center line, and hit my cx9 head on. I was driving alone. The impact wasn't at a high rate of speed, but enough to knock the front end off, and bend the traction bar.
I was very lucky... My biggest pain to date though is the right side of my neck, back and knee, where the body wasn't secured to seat like the belted left side.
BUT... If my right side had been secured like my left, I would not have flown straight up so hard nor snapped forward and back so hard on the unsecured side. MY left neck, back and knee took the brunt, and still hurt after two weeks.
I realize this extra belt thing would work, because I have the belt brush burns, and bruises in all the places I was secured, and none on the left side, of course, where I wasn't. I have no body whip-lash on the left side, but whip-lashed everything on the right side.
This is an easy fix that save a ton of injury. I like my cx9, and am waiting for them to fix it up. Put the belts in, so I can buy a new one.
