It is a newly patented seating device designed to be used with any standard walker in hospitals and nursing homes to improve patient safety and prevent falls when patients can no longer stand or walk during their gait training or therapy session. The WalkerMate is clipped onto any standard walker, and is detached with one click and used as a seat at the moment the patient suddenly needs to sit to avoid falling. After the patient has rested enough to stand again, the device is re-attached to the walker with one click, allowing the patient to resume walking/gait training session. If the patient is unable to stand again after resting, the WalkerMate with optional wheel attachments can be used as a transport chair to roll the patient to the appropriate destination in the hospital or nursing center.
