This inventive manual cutting technology is able to efficiently cut a range of materials such as paper, card, all sorts of vinyl's and foil, wallpaper, technical textiles, PVA and PVC reinforced fabrics, even flexible vinyl floor covering. The product is a suitable for several sector's including, office, printing and banner industry, tarpaulin, marquee and tent producers, sail makers, geo fabric operatives, blind fabricators, craft and hobbyist and last but not least the overall utility and safety knife market. When utilized as a desktop paper and card cutter the device can be used freehand or aligned with any ruler or straight edge coming to hand. Unlike existing products such as Rotary Paper Trimmers and guillotines there are no length of cut limitations, also when compared with manual rotating knives such as that of 'Olfa' It has no undercut so there's no need for cutting mats. Low retail cost, compact design, shape cutting ability and unparalleled safety features give ROLKUT numerous advantages over existing desk top cutting products including guillotines, rotary blade bar cutters, box cutters, rotary knives, even scissors When ROLKUT is manually driven forward its undercarriage is configured with a unique element that lifts and tensions material to be cut at the point of reaching the knife blade, this inventive feature facilitates smooth and accurate cutting of a wide range of materials used in office, workshop and home, it cuts with similar speed and accuracy to powered equipment for a fraction of comparable purchase or running costs, furthermore unlike guillotines, bar cutters or machinery ROLKUT has no length of cut or positional restrictions, nor is there any risk of injury to the operator.
(SAFETY CHARACTERISTICS). The cutter sits comfortably in either hand using a standard utility knife blade that is shielded in such a way that direct contact between fingers and blade is impossible, this feature provides the user with unrivalled levels of safety and unlike manual cutting apparatus such as box cutters and rotary knives ROLKUT has no undercut so there is no residual damage on work surfaces. No particular skills are required, the cutter is equally suited to professional and occasional user, to use, simply align the cutter to the required cutting position, place the leading edge of the lifting plate below the material to be cut then using light downward pressure move the equipment forward, cutting will continue so long as forward pressure is maintained. Please keep it in mind the cutters used in the demonstration clip are simple particle board prototypes made up in my own workshop to gauge the best blade calibration, handling and cutting performance. The body of ROLKUT can be produced from Plastic Polymers or Die cast aluminum, investment required for the remaining development is tooling to include a two part mold for the body and single mold for the undercarriage and I guess the wheels could be bought in. First stage development is completed, the cutter is proven and Intellectual Property issues are finished in US & UK, rest of world well underway. The likely unit production cost being under € 2.50 per item (Estimated Oriental production). The invention is not to be compared to existing utility cutting products such as the novelty 'scissor mouse' or numerous foil/packaging slitters, ROLKUT incorporates a pioneering cutting technique that offers significant advantages over all available competing products, it has the potential to become an indispensable primary tool for decades to come.
