Tailgate Ladder
Dodge New Product IdeaSubmitted 3 years ago
Good morning. My name is Robert Nicolodi. I have a 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie. I love this truck. But I am a 20 retired 100% disabled US Navy veteran. Needless to say that I have some mobility issues. We have all seen the little step and handle that come out of the top of the tailgate on the ford. Frankly it is garbage. Only one step and the handle gets in the way. I bought an aftermarket ladder from Amazon that I attached to the tailgate that and comes out to the side. here is the link (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078YFVS8V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
I also bought a handle that slides into one of the stake holes to use to pull myself up with. Here is the link (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071DZQJRY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
I propose a similar ladder to come out of the side of the tailgate. It could slide inside the tailgate itself on rails and you could add a pop up grab handle in the bed side that could be lever controlled or linear actuated. This would keep it stowed away for safety and easily accessible for usage. Plus would not be in the way when loading or unloading cargo. Unlike Ford's grab bar, the one coming out of the bed side would never get full of sand or gravel get damaged by any payload.
