They can't do the squarebody for fuel economy reasons, if they do a squarebody you'll have to sacrifice ALL the power just to pass emissions on a dakota. Now if it were a 2500 truck it wouldn't be so bad.

Hey I believe dodge should reinvent the Dakota. Make a dakota demon, a dodge dakota with a square body like the 96, a simple yet elegant design. Then put a 300 hrsp v6 and a 500hrsp v8 option. Use positive traction in the rear, and make the vehicle have a wide stance for stability. Forget the rounded design introduced in 97. "Looks like crap" make an American man's midsized truck.
