Adaptive Downforce Trunk Braking System,Targeted Quadrant System

Dodge New Product Idea

Submitted 3 years ago

I'm utilizing the Vehicle Trunk as an adaptive Downforce and Trunk Braking System. The Trunk is under utilized, so I thought it would be smart to use something that is already attached to the vehicle. There are some systems that can be added to the vehicle so it can generate more downforce, which include huge wings and spoilers, but most of these wings don't actually start doing there job, until a certain speed, so they are generating more drag than anything. The big money super cars like Mclaren, Lamborghini and pagani, use adaptive downforce systems in there vehicles to make there cars better. So I thought if we could use the trunk in the same way they do, we could give the average guy, close to what those vehicles enjoy, at a much lower price point. The Adaptive Trunk braking system works, bye utilizing the trunk with a controller that triggers pneumatic actuators who move the trunk up and down, depending on the input that the client wants into the controller. This can be achieved with speed sensors connected to the controller, or another company is using a GPS enabled system. I think using speed sensors is easier for this system. When you start to move the vehicle the trunk goes up to add downforce, which translates into more grip for the rear tires. In a rear wheel drive vehicle where all the power of the motor is harnessed, I believe the more downforce added will equate to more grip, which means more acceleration. Which will get the Vehicle up to speed so the transmission can switch to a higher gear thus saving gas. As the vehicle accelerates and gets to the desired speed input-ed bye the client into the controller it will gradually lower the trunk to retain the original gas mileage. And as you get to speed and you need to brake, the trunk turns into the Trunk Braking System. The client inputs the speed into the controller for the speed in which the trunk braking system will activate.( let's say 50mph) when 50 mph is reached and the client brakes the system will deploy the trunk to help the vehicle brake. It utilizes the Trunk like a parachute, thus slowing the vehicle down much quicker and putting less stresses on the brakes and the tires. Then if the client also enjoys trips to the track on the weekends, he can deploy what is called The Targeted Quadrant System. This system also uses the trunk in unison with smaller actuators and the controller to split the trunk in half to help the vehicle when it goes into a corner when at the Race Track. This system raises the corresponding trunk half, depending on the corner the vehicle is going into, let's say(Right Corner), if the Vehicle goes into a right corner, then the left trunk half will deploy to add downforce, which equates to grip for the left tire, which is on the outside of the corner and has less contact with the ground, so this system helps add grip to the outside tire, so it can accelerate through the corner more quickly. This system I think will benefit from the GPS controlled system due to the GPS knowing when the vehicle will be going into a corner and can adjust before, so if the client has both systems it would have to work on both speed sensors and GPS, depending on how good the GPS controller works. So in Conclusion I think these two systems would help all Dodges Performance vehicles, all the SRT challengers and chargers and Hellcats and Demons, to Help them get the power down and to accelerate quicker and stop faster, and if they spend some time at the Race Track can utilize the Targeted Quadrant System to maneuver around the corners with Ease.
