Submission: The Tension Barrier (Safe Cut)

The Concept

The Product
Safe Cut is a retractable nylon net that protects bystanders, property and animals from objects from weedwackers and lawn mowers. This simple yet notable device employs the full features of a chain-link fence, only lighter; it is fully portable and is easily adjusted for length and height.
The idea to use such a device was conceptualized by the Principal after being an eyewitness to an incident in which a child was struck by a projectile thrown by a grass cutter (weed whacker). Safe Cut, designed specifically for injury prevention and property damage reduction, would have been the ideal safety device, providing zero risk to that child. This net will provide a barrier to stop projectiles from travelling off whackers, mowers and such other devices which are capable of propelling objects to well over 100 miles per hour.

The Safe Cut system will implement a new focus on operational safety. Among the many firms and individuals who frequently employ grass or hedge cutting services, this system represents huge savings in both. It will promote increased efficiency as there will be no risk of damage to person or property.

Purpose & Benfits

1. Provides a physical barrier between someone operating lawn equipment and bystanders.
2. Allows children to play outside while an adult conducts lawn work.
3. Reduces the chance of a stray rock or wood chip may injure or damage a person, property or animal
4. Sets up quickly and securely, for ease of use and maximum functionality
5. Retracts and furls neatly in upon itself after use, for easy storage.
Problems Solved

People who operate riding mowers, lawn mowers, or string trimmers risk propelling small stones or other

debris outwardly, and no amount of care can protect against these accidental ejections. This is dangerous

to anyone or anything in the general vicinity. Windows of homes or passing cars might break, or worse, a

child who is playing outdoors may accidentally be hit and injured by one of these objects.
