Patent Pending - Tell Tail EV Light
In the real world hybrid owners, especially those who drive the Prius, are getting a reputation for being smug. A search on Google of the words smug - Prius has 48,300 results. This seems to stem in part from the privileges being passed onto hybrid owners, specifically being allowed to drive in the HOV lane or free passes on toll roads. Or, it seems that people don't like to see hybrid owners driving the speed limit on the highway. See a parody of this well-known phenomenon: http://southpark.cc.com/clips/155193/thanks
Most of the hybrid cars and SUV's aren't distinct. They tend, except for a hybrid badge, to look a lot like their gas counterparts. Ask any electric or hybrid owner and they will tell you they love to talk about their car and awesome MPG. If given the opportunity they would show off this amazing feat as they drive.
My idea allows the vehicle to automatically to turn on an EV light each time the vehicle goes into EV mode. This could be a small green or other color light positioned in the middle of the bottom of the bumper or embedded in the rear of the car in a unique shape or as part of the original lighting design with wording such as EV.
EV Signal Light Concept:
Light mounted to exterior of car or as part of the original manufacturing build, front, sides or back.
Light could be in green, red, amber or blue color. (or any color)
Light could be in the shape of a triangle with overlay imprint of the letters "EV". Light can be embedded into existing lighting design of vehicle.
Light would illuminate each time the vehicle is in EV mode. The driver when driving the car often sees this light on their dashboard.
