As a current solar panel owner with a tesla battery backup during a mainline power outage the tesla battery assumes control and primary power source duties. With peak sun conditions the $70K solar panels are off waiting to recharge the tesla battery. This configuration provides for a lose lose condition just before night fall when the battetry is about to lose most of it's power and the sun is about to go down the homeowner goes into the night with a discharged battery. Not a good outcome having a $70k solar panel system that was shutoff just before sundown
