Why look at your phone to skip a song or turn up the volume? Why not have a single capacitive button on the phone that you use taps to control certain functions. If you're in camera mode use it to take photos. But here's its primary function.
Say you are driving down the road or running. You want to skip a song. Instead of having to take your eyes off the road or stop your run ruining your 6 minute mile, you just 'Tap' your phone. You actually don't even need a separate button for this. Just a software update. Tap once twice to skip a song. Tap thrice to back up a song. The only benefit of the button would eliminate a couple taps. And you could use long presses too. Like hold to pause or maybe turn up. I believe many people would take advantage of tapping.
