The Button

Samsung New Product Idea

Submitted 2 years ago

This is a new product idea I have for visually alerting you when you phone, or other device, are vibrating with the sound off for privacy. I will call it for now 'The Button'.

Use:

I work in a cubical, like millions of other people , where there is no privacy. I turn the sound off on my cell phone and place it face down so as to not bother others in my office. The problem with this, is I miss a lot of calls because I don't feel my phone vibrate. The button will set with in 3" to 6" from your device on the same surface and will detect the your device vibrating. This will then trigger The Button to flash LED visual notification that will be visible in your peripheral vision. The LED could flash or swirl around, which ever is most visible to the users. It would flash fast for a phone call and slow for a text message. Very simple.

Shape:

The Button will have a foot print of 1" x 1" x 1" and come in different shapes, colors and patterns. We could also license Disney, Marvel, Lego... so people can collect them and buy them multiple times.

Future:

2nd generation could have a Bluetooth option along with vibration detection. This will make people buy them for a second time for the new options.

I see this being small and cheap so it can be sold a point of purchase sell item. I see most people buy multiple of these to have in the office, car and home.

Customer:

Imagine how many people work in cubical, students or people that need privacy? Millions!!

Research:

Although 60 percent of office workers have a cubicle set-up, 93 percent of Americans say it is the absolute worst part of office life and that they'd prefer almost any other.

7 billion people on earth.
50% live in urban areas.
Of those 3.5 billion, we'll say 10% don't have jobs.
Of the remaining 3.15 billion, maybe 50% won't work in corporate/office settings.
Of the remaining 1.57 billion, we'll say 5% work in offices not cubes.
So that puts us at around 1.5 billion people in cubes.
There are also cubes that aren't in use so we'll go with 1.6 billion cubicles plus or minus maybe 200 million cubes is a good estimate.
Now for the US.
Same process except we're much more urbanized so I'll put the figure at 80%.
Our population is 300 million.
So 240 million urban citizens.
50% don't work corporate/office.
120 million in offices. 5% in offices.
114 million in cubes. I'm just gonna throw out the not used cubes in this one because the not used cubes probably aren't being manufactured in the US.
