Mobile Phone Ordering App

McDonalds New Service Idea

Submitted 7 years ago

Imagine a user downloads the McDonalds Ordering App. No username or password required. Its a simple app that has everything on the menu. The user can do a few things on the app; View the menu, add to favorites, view their order shopping cart, view history of orders. When the user launches the app, there are three buttons. The Menu button, favorites button, and order button. The user clicks a button.
1. Menu: The user browses the menu. The user selects an item or value meal. An edit button appears for each item on the selection. A user may have selected the number one Big Mac Meal. The user selects the edit button. The contents of the Big Mac appear under the line that says Big Mac. The user presses a minus sign next to where it says Big Mac Sause. At the bottom of the Big Mac Contents list is a plus sign. The user presses the plus sign. A pop up appears with all available options that the user can add. The user presses the Leaf Lettuce button. The pop up disappears and the contents of the Big Mac have been changed to accommodate the user's selection. The user then selects the save button. The app goes back to the Big Mac Meal selection where the edit button was originally. Now the user selects the Medium Fries edit button. The user goes through the same process again as before to remove the salt from the selection. The user saves the selection. Then back in the edit selection area, the user has 2 options. The user may add to shopping cart or save to favorites. The user saves to favorites. A pop up appears asking the user to title the favorite. This will be the headline when the user browses their favorites in the future. The user then presses the add to shopping cart button. The item(s) are saved to the order and the user may continue to browse the menu.
2. Add to favorites: The user's favorites are saved here so that the user can add them to the order easily.
3. Order: The user pushes the order button and sees everything they put in their shopping cart during the menu browsing stage. The purpose is to verify everything is correct. Then the user selects the Send to McDonalds button. The order is placed in History and an ID is at the top of the order. The user goes to McDonalds and tells them he/she has a mobile order number. The user reads the order number to the order taker. The order is imported to the McDonalds. The order taker does not read everything back to the customer because that would be annoying as hell. The order taker simply asks if the order number on the screen is correct. The customer may now go to the window and pay.

The app could also process payment, sign in using Facebook, etc. But that should not be required. Unique ID numbers for orders should be short. This can be accomplished by removing ID numbers from the database that are over one hour old. The customer will have one hour to go to McDonalds and claim their food before the order number expires and the user will have to create another order.
