Im hearing a lot of people ask about this whether you can request specific drivers, ive picked up the same people before but it's not that often. I thought of something that might work, but in theory of course. Currently the Lyft algorithm is by whoever is closest to the passenger request, the flaw is that your favorite driver could be 10 miles away or even further and you want him or her to pick you up but your drop-off distance might be shorter or the same.
Im proposing to have this feature to let passengers to favorite their drivers, but only can call them within a 3 mile or shorter radius of their pickup. Might want to regulate how many favorite drivers the passengers can have cause if they have a lot like 10+ and at a high percentage of the time, 1 or more could be within the radius to call them, this might effect other drivers who might not be Favorited as much and could be closer than the favorite driver and therefore lose ride pings.
This can or will be a great ride feature for passengers but must be regulated to an extent that it does not turn the system into favoritism.
Please comment, tell me what you think.
I like the idea of passengers requesting their favorite drivers, but make it like a list of favorite drivers showing who's online and their estimated arrival times. For a premium fee which rewards drivers for sustained superior performance are rewarded by being selected as a favorite driver.
