Hyundai wants exciting products for the N brand and they are neglecting a ripe market in a sports coupe. The RN16 has the face and the body of the HND-9 shows the sensual sportiness that the brand wants to convey, so why not combine the two. Hyundai is lacking a larger 2+2 sports car, which could be built on the new Sonata platform given AWD with the new 8DCT and 2.5T combo. This would also attract buyers looking for a more upscale option than the Veloster with room for 4 adults. Right now they are one of the only brands that doesn't offer one of some sort outside of Honda.
