Hand Held Lymphatic System Massager
Dyson New Product IdeaSubmitted 6 years ago
Lymphoedema is rarely talked about, yet is suffered by millions of people around the world. Primary cases are inherited, or develops during childhood. Secondary cases are usually caused by damage to the lymphatic system, as in my case, an operation to halt the spread of breast cancer.
The best way of coping (there is no cure) is massage to promote lymphatic drainage. Little is available for assisting this. There are compression garments, which are ugly and uncomfortable. There are huge inflatable devices that one sits in to be air massaged.
I envisage a hand held device that pulses warm (never hot) air that an individual could use to promote lymph fluid movement. The pressure used is minimal, much lighter than normal massage, and temperature is critical. It would need to be slightly warm to relax the body, but never hot as this simply promotes more fluid to an already overloaded area.
