Fridge With Vacuum Compartment

A fridge with a compartment for vegetables that automatically becomes a vacuum when you shut the door. This could be in the form of a tray with a fixed loose plastic sheeting for a top from which the air is sucked out when you shut the door similar to how food is vacuum packed. If this became a standard item then the amount of food wasted would be dramatically reduced due to the much increased lifespan of vegetables with such a system.
