Could you use the cyclone airflow idea to clean the air going into an engine as an alternative to a standard air filter? Or attach one to the exhaust to filter out particles before the catalytic converter. The standard car air filter clogs and slows engine performance. The change in flow might also reduce turbulence and so be more efficient at getting air into the engine.
