Electronic Accelerator And Soft Acceleration

Chrysler Product Improvement Idea

Submitted 5 years ago

A device that would use the motion of the accelerator to operate a switching device that would control a current flow to operate a motor of some kind to operate the throttle. Something like a remote controlled car, but it would be hard wired into the car.
Once the throttle is controlled electronically you could route the wire to a device on the dashboard that could be changed to manipulate and restrict the amount of the current that goes to the device that pulls the throttle. You could set the dashboard control at 50 percent, and push the throttle pedal all the way down and only get half throttle opened. With the dashboard control set at half, and the floor pedal pushed half you would only get the throttle pulled back 25 percent.
You could turn down( at the dash) how far the throttle could be pulled back. You would still have the full floor pedal motion, but the dashboard control would be stepping down the flow from the pedal operated device before it goes to the throttle controlling device.
With the dashboard device turned all the way open and the pedal to the floor the throttle would be pulled all the way.
With the dashboard controller set half way, and the floor pedal to the floor the throttle would be pulled half way.
With the dashboard control set at 25 percent, and the floor pedal all the way to the floor the throttle would be pulled a quarter of the way.
This should limit how much the throttle could be opened, but still giving you full use of the pedal so a high HP car like a 800 HP hellcat could have the amount the throttle could be opened limited at the dashboard. You would have all your floor pedal to open the throttle to the set point. Making a 800 HP car drive more like a lower HP car when the dashboard control is turned down.
This would make the car more streetable and safer to drive in bad road conditions like rain, snow, or wet conditions. You could apply gas more precisely with it turned to a lower setting.
The dashboard control set at 25 percent, the floor pedal would have to move all the way to the floor to move the throttle 25 percent open. That would mean in a 800 HP car at a 25 percent dashboard control setting, and the foot pedal to the floor you should be getting about 200 HP. The pedal pushed halfway to the floor should give you 100 HP. When you want full power just turn the dashboard control up all the way.
This could give the driver more subtleties in the application of gas to the motor, making the car much more safer in bad road conditions to drive.

I would like to talk to you about this
