Next Generation Of Wwii Shooter

Activision New Product Idea

Submitted 8 years ago

This idea takes on several facets which in my mind make a great game:

Story
Historical and simulation realism
Open world choice making/planning
Seeing the effect of choices made in game
Not necessarily having those choices reflect historical reality

For years I've wanted a shooter in this vein. It's time we take wwii out of the major armies and put the player into the mind of the various civilian resistance groups around Europe (perhaps in France, Holland, Belgium etc.) And in that context, much as those resistance fighters did, give players the realism that comes with the choices, the hard choices that these groups had to make on a daily basis. Not only the idea that they must resist an enemy force, not only that they must receive supplies and weapons from a variety of sources (the special operations executive out of Britain, enemy soldiers themselves, improvising and creating distractions and brawling etc.) But also discreet locales on which to store these items and food. There should also be missions where the trustworthiness of individuals is at question. Perhaps instances where someone is trying to provide the resistance with intelligence or join and it's not known whether these people can be trusted. What about a rescue of a prisoner sentenced to die by the hands of the gestapo or a person being interrogated for information? This should NOT be another highly scripted call of duty title. This should be a deep story in the style of a far cry or just cause game bit with the tactical considerations ofthe reality of the situation and the time.
